The principles of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights relates to the Saint Leo Universities core value of community in a number of ways. Article two states that Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. No matter what religion you worship, Saint Leo’s only intentions are to continue to provide the Christian learning community. Not all religious courses taught at Saint Leo are geared toward one community. Article nineteen states Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers. I am currently enrolled in religious 123 â€Å"Intro to the Old Testament† and I am not a Christian but the course and the instructor allow me to voice my opinion freely regardless of what religion group the instructor is a part of they don’t criticize my way of thinking or they don’t push the issue to convert me to their Christianity. The second part of article twenty-six which states Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace reverts back to the previous statement I was saying about the instructors not trying to convince you to see it their way and their way only.
